State's rights. He actually said that a state had a right to unilaterally cecede from the union if it so chose.

After the war of 1812, the New England states formed a conference to decide whether they should cecede and form their own government. Jefferson said that they were free to leave, but didn't agree with their reasons. He never questioned their right though, saying that everyone had a right to be wrong, or something to that effect.
